A £5m waste management plant is the latest project to be completed by Encon
Construction, its success leading to the creation of a new strategic
partnership.
Encon Construction continues to reinforce its position as one of the leading
lights of the South Wales construction industry - with national reach -
following the completion of a new build waste management plant in Worcester,
for Mercia Waste Management.
The new 'EnviroSort' plant receives, sorts and dispatches all the clean
recyclables collected from households across Worcestershire and
Herefordshire - around 105,000 tonnes of recyclable material each year -
forming a key component of the area's sustainable future.
Encon undertook the design and construction of the 6,700 m² facility, 800 m²
of office space, a 6,600 m² area of concrete hardstanding and 2,000 m² of
car parking space. The project incorporated the introduction of green
technologies, and Encon's earthworks were carefully planned to ensure a
cut-fill balance to avoid waste being transported to landfill.
The project has since been followed by further works with Mercia Waste
Management, with an £800,000 design and construction project for household
waste taking place at a site in Bilford. The job included site clearance and
demolition, reinforced concrete retaining walls and compactor slabs,
construction of a control building and all associated mechanical and
electrical works.
